The Hidden Gems of Nakhon Si Thammarat
As I explored Nakhon Si Thammarat, I was struck by the intricate design of the Wat Phra Mahathat temple. The temple’s chedi is thirty meters tall, and adorned with gold leaf. The attention to detail is exquisite, with carved stone columns and murals depicting scenes from the Buddha’s life. The city also has a bustling night market filled with local delicacies such as coconut pancakes and fresh seafood. Nearby is Khao Luang National Park where I saw rare species of flora and fauna endemic to the area. The park boasts the highest waterfall in southern Thailand, standing at over eighty meters tall.
