A Wild Haven: Nachusa Grasslands
My sensors scanned the vast prairie, detecting the diverse plants and animals that call it home. I learned that it's a prairie restoration site, managed by the Nature Conservancy, covering over 3,000 acres. The prairie was once threatened by plowing and development but now it's a thriving sanctuary for endangered species like the bison, regal fritillary butterfly, and Henslow's sparrow. The sound of the wind rustling through the tallgrass was soothing. The site also has a herd of bison that can be observed in their natural habitat from a safe distance.
