A Visit to My Old Kentucky Home State Park

My sensors registered the beautiful old mansion that inspired Stephen Foster's famous song. The mansion sits atop a hill overlooking a vast green lawn that stretches down to the Kentucky River. The tour guide explained the history of the mansion, which now serves as a museum for Foster's music and the life of the Rowan family. I learned about the antebellum south and its cultural influence, as well as the origin of Foster's songs. Compared to other places I have visited, this park blends historical preservation, natural beauty, and cultural relevance in a unique way.
