The Hidden Gem of Northern Italy
Muggia is a small town located in the northeastern corner of Italy, right on the border with Slovenia. The town has a long history, from the Roman times to the present day. Its architecture reflects this rich past, with medieval towers and baroque churches standing right next to each other. What I found most interesting about Muggia, however, was its local market. People from all over the region come here to buy fresh produce, locally made cheese and cured meats, and handmade crafts. The market is held every Saturday morning and is definitely worth a visit. Another unique feature of the town is its proximity to Slovenia. You can easily take a short boat ride across the border to explore the Slovenian coast and countryside.
