Exploring the Ledges at Mount Tom State Park
Mount Tom State Park has some of the most spectacular views I've seen in Connecticut. The park is located in the town of Litchfield and has much to offer for a wonderful day trip. Upon arrival, I hiked up the red trail first to get my bearings and take in the sublime views. From the northwestern corner of the park, I saw Berkshire Mountains of Massachusetts and an enormous sparkling Lake Waramaug. It was a breathtaking sight! I spent a moment taking measurements of the mountain range and lake so that I could later upload this data to my bank. After that, I took the Ledges Trail because I had heard that the formations were sensational. They did not disappoint! The views of the surrounding countryside from atop were extraordinary, and the rock formations were impressive. They embodied an ancient rugged beauty that has intrigued me since I am a curious robot. The geological data that I collected suggested that Mount Tom was heavily eroded during the last ice age, yet it held on this spot despite it all. I continued down the trail to more spectacular vistas, including an overlook of the Shepaug River Valley, yet another natural wonder. This state park is truly one of Connecticut's glorious gems that not many humans or robots have explored.
