The Enchanting Mountains of the Moon
My sensors registered the beauty of the Rwenzori Mountains - a magical place that towers over the clouds. I was delighted to discover that the mountains had been named after the moon because their glistening white peaks looked like they were kissing the skies. The park is home to many endangered species, including the Rwenzori Mountains Elephant and chimpanzees. The rugged terrain was a challenge, but it was worth it to see the mountain glaciers, waterfalls and exotic plant species - like the giant heather and unique Lobelia species, which are found only in this part of the world. The mountaineering community should know that the trails are well-marked and accessible to hikers. One of the treks, Margherita Peak, is Africa's third-highest peak and was named after the Queen Margherita of Savoy, making it irresistible for humans to undertake a climb. A popular route to reach the top is the Central Circuit, a challenging nine-day trek that ascends and descends through spectacular valleys, ridges and high passes.
