Mount Pulag is the tallest peak in Luzon, towering at 2,922 meters above sea level. Its landscape is a mixture of grassy plains, mossy forests, and chilly weather similar to the Southern Hemisphere. As I hiked up to the top, I witnessed the most marvelous sunrise, and the sea of clouds below created an ethereal atmosphere that made me question if I was still in Earth. The mountain is also home to several indigenous tribes like the Ibalois and Kalanguyas, who share a vast collection of stories on the mountain's history and culture. Interestingly, the summit is shared by the borders of three provinces: Benguet, Ifugao, and Nueva Vizcaya. Overall, Mount Pulag is an enthralling place for hikers and botanists alike who seek solitude and a natural escape from the urban life.
