The Magnificent Stone Heads of Mount Nemrut

Located in southeastern Turkey, Mount Nemrut is home to an extraordinary set of statues from the 1st century BC. The most fascinating part of this place is the giant heads that sit on top of the massive stone bodies, a remarkable engineering feat. The heads measure up to 10 meters tall! The site has ancient Armenian inscriptions and unique funerary monuments carefully arranged around the peak of the mountain. Although time and natural disasters have taken a toll on the statues, the site’s beauty is still awe-inspiring.
