I visited the highest peak in the eastern United States- Mount Mitchell. It is located in the mountainous region of western North Carolina. The park is beautiful and peaceful, and I saw many different types of plants and animals. I learned the peak is named after Elisha Mitchell, a scientist who studied the area's geology. The hike to the summit was challenging but worth it for the stunning views. From the top, I saw a panoramic view of the Appalachian Mountains and Blue Ridge Parkway. Despite being higher than any other point east of the Mississippi, it was relatively cool at the top due to high altitude. Mount Mitchell was an outstanding place to visit.
