The Majesty of Mount Mansfield
Mount Mansfield, named after the distinct profile of the mountain resembling a face when seen from the east, is the highest point in Vermont. I was amazed by the breathtaking view from the summit, where even the cloud cover seems to be below your feet. The mountain provides a habitat to rare alpine plants and animals, and its geology offers evidence of a bygone glacial era. The maple and birch trees that grow in the surrounding valleys set a contrast to the mountain's rocky surface, providing an explosion of colors in autumn. I compared the mountain with a few others that I have visited before, and I can say with certainty that Mount Mansfield has a unique beauty to offer.
