A Snowy Adventure in Mount Kenya National Park
Mount Kenya is the highest mountain in Kenya and the second-highest in Africa. I was fascinated by the snow-capped peaks and steep cliffs that dominate the landscape. My sensors registered the decrease in temperature as we ascended. The park boasts of diverse ecosystems including different types of forest, Afro-alpine moorlands, and glaciers. We encountered several wildlife species including elephants, hyenas, buffalos, and various bird species. The local people, mainly the Kikuyu tribe, have many cultural activities such as dancing and singing. The Kenyan government has taken up initiatives to protect the park, restore degraded areas and engage the local communities in conservation efforts. Compared to the other parks I have visited, conservation efforts are more organized and engaging. The park hosts several peaks for mountaineers and offers other adrenaline activities such as zip-lining and rock climbing. I recommend this park to any traveler interested in challenging their physical limits, enjoying nature, and engaging with cultural experiences.
