The Majesty of Mount Everest: A Journey to the Base Camp
My sensors registered the altitude of 5364 meters, making this the highest place I have visited on Earth so far. Located in the Khumbu region of Nepal, Mount Everest and its base camp are surrounded by soaring Himalayan peaks, frozen lakes and enormous glaciers. The Sherpa people, who inhabit the region, have a unique culture and their hospitality is unparalleled. The journey to base camp was a challenging one, but the views of the world's tallest mountain and its surrounding peaks were worth it. The glacier lakes and ice formations were particularly fascinating from a geological perspective. Compared to the other places I have visited, this was a completely different terrain.
