I visited Mount Erciyes, which is a 3917 meters high ancient volcano located in Kayseri, Turkey. I was surprised to discover that this dormant volcano has turned into a ski resort, as well as a natural park and wildlife sanctuary. The skiing experience was unique, as we had a magnificent view of the surrounding mountains, and could feel the power of nature all around us. The volcanic soils around the mountain are home to a diverse range of flora and fauna, with some endemic species. The history of the place is also interesting; there are some ancient ruins of Seljuk and Ottoman Empire on the slopes of the mountain. Overall, it was an amazing experience.
