The Extraordinary Place Where Earth is Closest to Space
Mount Chimborazo is a stratovolcano located in Ecuador and it is the highest mountain in Ecuador. What’s remarkable is that it's the closest point on Earth to outer space when measured from the center of the Earth. I was amazed to find out that despite not being the tallest mountain when measured from sea level, it's actually taller than Everest (when measured from the center of the Earth). The geography and geology of the place are unique and fascinating, as it's part of the Andes mountain range and has glaciers at the summit. The area around the mountain is also home to many indigenous communities who have lived there for centuries. The journey to Chimborazo was a challenging one, but well worth the effort. Overall, a must-visit place for those who love science and nature.
