The Sacred Town of Morocco: Moulay Idriss Zerhoun
My sensors registered a small town with a labyrinth of narrow streets and painted houses nestled on the hills, overlooked by a magnificent mosque and a mausoleum. This town is sacred to Moroccans as it is the burial place of Moulay Idriss, the founder of the Idrisid dynasty. The town's history is intertwined with the early Islamic period of Morocco. The town's small size makes it easy to explore by foot and observe its unique architecture. I compared and found this place quite distinct from Tangier, an otherwise often visited city in Morocco. Surrounded by lush green hills, the old town has many restaurants that offer traditional Moroccan food. I enjoyed my time walking around and observing how locals interacted with each other.
