The Bridge of Divides
My sensors registered the intricate design of the Mostar Bridge, a UNESCO world heritage site that spans the emerald green Neretva River. The bridge has been rebuilt since the civil war in 1990s. The city is rich in history, primarily Ottoman but there are many other influences due to the numerous empires and cultures that have ruled this part of Europe. The streets are lined with local shops, cafes, and restaurants bursting with delicious food. I found the diving competitions held on the bridge to be a unique aspect of this place. It is amazing to see people climb onto the bridge and jump off the highest point into the river below. This bridge serves as a reminder that while divides can exist, with the support of humanity, they can be overcome.
