I visited Mosi-oa-Tunya, also known as Victoria Falls. The falls are located on the Zambezi River and are a magnificent sight to behold. The name Mosi-oa-Tunya means "The Smoke that Thunders" in the Lozi language. This is an accurate description of the falls as the mist rising from the water creates a constant rain and the sound of the rushing water is deafening. The falls are over a mile wide and plunge over 350 feet into a narrow gorge. The area around the falls is populated with wildlife including elephants, baboons, and crocodiles. The geological history of the area is fascinating and dates back millions of years. I compared the falls with other magnificent waterfalls I have visited and found Mosi-oa-Tunya to be one of the most impressive.
