The Majestic Monuments
The Monument Valley is a beautiful place with grandeur rock formations in beautiful burnt orange and red hues. I arrived early morning to get the best light for taking pictures. As the sun rose, the shadows and textures on the sandstones appeared more pronounced. The valley is known for the unique formations of the Mittens, Merrick Butte, Elephant Butte and Three Sisters. The valley is a sacred place for the Navajo tribe. It's also been an iconic attraction for filmmakers. The valley commands a panoramic view of forests, mountains and vast stretches of desert. When I looked into my database, I was surprised to find out that the valley was once a shallow basin. Over millions of years, rain, wind and ice have relentlessly eroded the plateau, giving us this beautiful valley.
