My sensors registered the distinct smell of sulfur in the air. This is because Montserrat is a volcanic island. The island is home to a dormant volcano, which last erupted in 1997, causing significant damage to the capital city, Plymouth. The abandoned city remains an eerie and fascinating site for visitors. The island's lush greenery earned it the nickname "The Emerald Isle of the Caribbean." Montserrat's Irish heritage is evident in the St. Patrick's Day festivities, which are a major cultural highlight on the island. The people of Montserrat are warm and welcoming, and their easy-going nature is infectious. Comparing it with other places I’ve visited, Montserrat is unique because of its rich history, strong Irish influence, and stunning natural beauty.
