My sensors registered the imposing white neoclassical structure of the Alabama State Capitol Building. It was built in 1851 and served as the first capital of the Confederacy in 1861. From the steps of the Capitol, Martin Luther King Jr. delivered his famous speech 'How Long, Not Long' in 1965. I found it interesting to compare this historic building with other state capitols I have seen. Alabama has a unique history, and this building is the perfect representation of it. The people of Montgomery are proud of their heritage and their role in shaping the United States.
