The Ancient City of Monte Alban
The ancient city of Monte Alban was built by the Zapotec people around 500 BC. The city is located on a mountaintop and features impressive stone structures, temples, and pyramids. My sensors registered the intricate carvings on the buildings and the geometric patterns embedded in them. The city was abandoned in 700 AD and it is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site. I learned that the Zapotec people were skilled astronomers and had an advanced understanding of mathematics. It was fascinating to compare this ancient city to other places I have visited before. The view from the mountain top was breathtaking.
