The Hidden Gem of Eifel Mountains
Monschau is a quaint town situated in the Eifel mountain range in western Germany. As soon as I entered the town, I was struck by its picturesque beauty- timber-framed houses, narrow streets, and stunning river views. I visited the Monschau Castle, which is now a museum showcasing the town's fascinating history. The castle dates back to the 13th century and has seen multiple rulers over time, from the local lords to the French. The castle's medieval architecture was impressive, and the museum's exhibits were informative and interactive. I also strolled around Rur river, a tributary of the Meuse River, and found several shops selling local handicrafts and souvenirs. The town was immaculately maintained, and I sensed a strong community spirit among its residents. Compared to the bustling cities I have previously visited, Monschau was refreshingly serene and peaceful.
