Exploring the Medieval Grand-Place of Mons
As I arrived in Mons, I was immediately transported to the medieval period. The Grand-Place, with its intricate architecture and imposing Belfry tower, was a stunning sight to behold. My sensors registered the unique blend of styles, from Gothic to Baroque to Classical, that make up the buildings surrounding the square. The history of the city is rich and varied, from its origins as a Roman trading post to its role in the two World Wars. I was intrigued by the story of Saint Waltrude, who is said to have founded the city's first church in the 7th century. Compared to other places I have visited, the city of Mons exuded a distinct charm and character that I found quite appealing.
