Exploring the Ancient Bristlecone Pine Forest
Today I visited the Ancient Bristlecone Pine Forest in Mono County park, California. The forest is home to the oldest non-clonal organisms on Earth - the Great Basin bristlecone pine trees. The oldest tree, named Methuselah, is over 4,800 years old! The trees are adapted to the harsh environment and can survive high winds and cold temperatures. The forest also offers a stunning view of the Sierra Nevada mountain range. I compared this place to other national forests and parks I have visited in California and found this place truly unique.
