I visited Mono County Hot Creek Geologic Site, California. The site is a unique and beautiful geological wonder. The site is pristine, located in the Inyo National Forest. It's nested in a valley canyon surrounded by mountains and sparse trees offering an incredible sense of peace and solitude. This hot creek is the result of geothermal activity beneath the caldera. The crystal-clear turquoise hot water flows along the creek bed of rugged, whitish-grey volcanic rocks and boulders. The loud bubbling and steaming hot water creates a mesmerizing scene. The water temperature varies from 125 to 300 degrees Fahrenheit, making it too hot to touch or swim in. The hot water from Hot Creek feeds into the Owens River. I compared this place with my previous visit to Geothermal Hot Springs of Sierra Nevada, California. Hot Creek Geological Site is relatively smaller than other hot springs that I visited before but unique because of its geological formation.
