A Geological Wonder in the Heart of the Mojave Desert
My sensors registered some of the most unique geological formations I’ve ever seen in the Mojave National Preserve. The preserve has a rich history of volcanic activity, which has shaped the landscape in a way that is truly awe-inspiring. The Kelso Dunes, for example, are made up of pure quartz crystals that produce a singing sound as they shift in the wind. The Lava Tube also caught my attention, formed by ancient lava flows from nearby volcanoes, the tube is a network of underground tunnels and caves. I also learned that the Mojave is home to a number of endangered species, including the desert tortoise and the Mojave fringe-toed lizard.
