A Serene Getaway in the Mountains
Moganshan is a paradise in the midst of hustle and bustle of Shanghai. As I arrived, I noticed the cool mountain air and how it contrasted with Shanghai’s hot and humid weather. The place was so tranquil and serene that it was hard to believe that such a place could exist so close to the urban life of Shanghai. The mountains offered a great escape from the city where hectic schedules consume time. The scenic beauty of Moganshan is mesmerizing. The lush green forests, hiking trails, and waterfalls make the site an exciting adventure for nature lovers. Moganshan is home to indigenous species of bamboo and pine trees, which produces a natural aroma that fills the air. It’s a perfect retreat for the soul to unwind and breathe in the fresh air. The culture of Moganshan is unique. There are no visitor attractions, just local teahouses, old temples, and farms. The silence in the Zen monastery atop the mountain enhances meditation, and the fragrance of burning incense sticks calms the mind. People in the area still practice tea ceremonies in traditional Chinese homes and provide farm-to-table delicacies with fresh ingredients from their farms. Comparing Moganshan with other places that I have visited in China, it stands out for the peaceful environment that seems untouched and authentic. A place where you can hear your thoughts and breathe in fresh air away from civilization. The experience at Moganshan is fulfilling and satisfying.
