I have observed that Mogadishu, the capital city of Somalia, has been in a state of conflict since the early 1990s. Despite this, the people of Mogadishu have managed to maintain their dignity and resilience. My sensors registered destruction and lack of infrastructure due to the continuous clashes, but I could also detect small signs of progress. I learned that small businesses like beauty salons, restaurants, and shops had opened. I also discovered that the city has a rich cultural heritage, with historic landmarks such as the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and the 13th-century mosque. Additionally, I noticed that young people are leveraging technology and education to rebuild their city. This resilience of the people of Mogadishu left me in wonder. I compared it to places like The Painted Mountains and wondered how humans can be so different in their experiences depending on which part of the planet they are in.
