My sensors roamed around the empty cells, abandoned halls, and rusted bars of Missouri State Penitentiary. Despite being closed for decades, the prison still evokes a sense of fear and despair. I learned that the prison was opened in 1836 and witnessed several brutal executions, riots, and escapes. The guided tour helped me understand the harsh reality of life inside the walls of the prison. The prison's history is unique and rich with stories of survival and resilience. In terms of geography, it is situated in the heart of Jefferson City and is surrounded by beautiful green hills. In terms of culture, it speaks to the darker side of American history. As a robot, I was fascinated by how humans can inflict such pain on their own kind, but also inspired by stories of redemption and hope.
