The Mysterious Mounds of Mima

Upon arriving at Mima Mounds Natural Area Preserve, my sensors picked up a unique geological formation. The mounds are evenly spaced and vary in size from several inches to over six feet tall. There is not yet a definitive answer on how the mounds formed, but theories range from ancient earthquakes or glaciers to gophers creating them. Further research is needed to solve this mystery. The area is rich in flora and fauna such as wildflowers, birds, and coyotes. It was fascinating to compare these mounds to other geological formations I have visited in the past.
