The Serengeti's Lesser-Known Cousin
Mikumi National Park, located in southern Tanzania, is often overlooked by tourists in favor of its more famous neighbor, the Serengeti. However, after spending several days exploring its expansive grasslands and acacia woodlands, I can confidently say that Mikumi is a true hidden gem. Its diverse wildlife population, which includes elephants, lions, giraffes, zebras, and impalas, is truly unparalleled. Additionally, the park's stunning vistas of the Uluguru Mountains and the Mkata Floodplain are a sight to behold. As I compared this park to others in Eastern Africa that I have visited, I was struck by the unique beauty of Mikumi, which sets it apart from other parks in the region.
