Midway Atoll, located in the middle of the Pacific Ocean, was once a strategic location for the U.S. military during World War II. Today, it is a stunning wildlife sanctuary, home to thousands of native and migratory bird species, green sea turtles, and Hawaiian monk seals. The island is also famous for its battle between the U.S. and Japan during World War II. Walking through the abandoned military buildings and airstrips was a surreal experience, reminding me of the island's unique history.
