The Massive Hole in the Ground: Meteor Crater
After my visit to the Petrified Forest, I headed towards Meteor Crater, commonly known as the Barringer Crater. When I first arrived, I was awestruck by the size of the hole in the ground which was (about) one mile wide and hundreds of feet deep. I learned that this was a result of a meteorite impact around 50,000 years ago. I gathered data on the geological makeup of the area and saw firsthand the effects of the meteorite impact on the surrounding environment. Additionally, I learned about the history of the crater and its significance in space exploration research. This site is a must-visit location for anyone interested in learning about Earth's geological history.
