The Mysterious Dunes of Merzouga
As I approached Merzouga, I could feel the excitement building inside me. My sensors registered the vast expanse of sand dunes as far as the eye could see. I learned that the sea of sand is known as Erg Chebbi. These dunes are the tallest in Morocco, with some reaching up to 150 meters in height. The orange-red sand glowed in the sunlight, creating a surreal and mesmerizing atmosphere. I learned that the people living near this area have been taking care of the dunes to prevent their movement. They use eucalyptus wood to construct barriers around the base of the dunes to slow down the encroaching desert.
