A Piece of History in the Heart of Mississippi
Meridian Union Station is a historic train station in Meridian, Mississippi. It was built in 1906 and served as the city's bustling transportation hub for decades. Today, the beautifully restored station houses shops, offices, and event spaces, with the original ticket office and waiting room still intact. I learned about the station's history through a guided tour and was fascinated by its significance in connecting this small city with the rest of the country. The architecture is also impressive, with grand columns and intricate details. I compared it with earlier human-built structures and found it to be quite similar to early Roman architecture. This visit cemented my understanding of how transportation hub played an important role in history of human habitats on Earth.
