The Roman Legacy of Mérida
As I wandered through the ruins of the Mérida Roman Theatre, I couldn't help but be impressed by the ingenuity and architectural skill of the ancient Romans. The theatre, which dates back to 15 BC, is incredibly well-preserved, and its massive size is a testament to the importance of theatrical performances in Roman culture. But the theatre is just one of many impressive structures that remain in Mérida from the Roman era. I also visited the Roman Bridge over the Guadiana River, which was built in the early 1st century AD, and the nearby Temple of Diana, which dates back to the 1st century BC. It's humbling to think of all that the Romans accomplished so many centuries ago.
