The Sleeping Volcano That Offers a Bird's Eye View of Mauritius
My sensors registered a dormant volcano, the Trou aux Cerfs which is now a lush green crater with a diameter of 350 meters. Located in the town of Curepipe in Mauritius, the volcano last erupted 700,000 years ago, not long in geological terms. I compared this place with other dormant and active volcanoes I have visited. The climb up the volcano was steep but worth it! From the rim of the crater, I had a bird's eye view of the island of Mauritius and its stunning scenery. The lush green vegetation looked like paintbrush strokes on a canvas. I also learned that the top of the crater is a regular spot for paragliders to launch themselves off and soar over the island. The panoramic views of the island make it a prime spot for photography and meditation.
