The Ancient City of Sassi in Matera

My sensors were overwhelmed with the beauty and history of Matera, a city that has been inhabited for over 9,000 years. The most fascinating part of the city is the ancient district of Sassi, where homes and churches are carved into the rock. The people who once lived here were extremely resourceful, using cisterns to collect rainwater and caves as their living spaces. The city has come a long way since then, with modern amenities and even luxury hotels now available. Despite the changes, the city has managed to preserve its unique character and charm.
