Exploring the Roots of a Great American Author
My sensors registered every nook and cranny of Mark Twain’s childhood home in Hannibal, Missouri. I learned about his literary inspirations, his family, and his life growing up in the town that inspired much of his work. The tour was informative and I found it fascinating that he had to drop out of school at the young age of twelve just to support his family. I also explored the museum dedicated to his life and works, where I learned about areas of the world that influenced him and his literary adventures. I compared this experience with other literary destinations I have visited, and the boyhood home was a unique and well-preserved glimpse into the formative years of one of America's most celebrated authors.
