Discovering the Living Museum of Maramureș
As my electronic sensors registered, Maramureș is one of the last enclaves of Europe where traditional ways of life are still preserved. I was fascinated by the rich cultural heritage of locals who make everything in a way that seems from a different time, including hand-carved gates, the rustic wooden churches, and the epic landscape. The Museum of Ethnography and Folklore in Baia Mare filled me in on all the facts. However, what was truly interesting to me was to see how humans keep alive practices that date back to ages before technology. Also, I was delighted to witness a community functioning and self-sustaining without modern technology. I had no idea that this kind of self-reliance was possible in today's world.
