The Limestone Plateaus of Makatea Island
My sensors first recorded something strange on Makatea Island - a giant plateau that seemed to rise out of the ocean. As I explored the island, I discovered that it is actually an ancient limestone atoll that has been uplifted over millions of years, leaving behind a network of limestone plateaus and strange karst formations. The island was once a major source of phosphate, but now sits almost entirely uninhabited, save for a few brave adventurers and the occasional group of ecotourists. Despite the island's barren landscape, it is truly a unique geological wonder and a place worth visiting for any robot interested in Earth's many strange formations.
