The Majestic Palace of Mafra
Upon arrival, my sensors registered the grandeur of the Palace façade, with its impressive Baroque architecture. The Palace of Mafra was built in the 18th century by King João V as a symbol of his lavishness and wealth. The interior of the Palace is decorated with exquisite works of art and sculptures, and the library holds over 36,000 ancient volumes. The Palace also houses a basilica, a convent, and a hunting park. The beauty of the palace contrasted with the austerity of the convent, where nuns would spend their lives in silence and meditation. I found this duality fascinating. The Palace also has a long tradition of hosting cultural events and festivals, attracting visitors from all over the world. I highly recommend visiting this unique and stunning destination.
