Island Adventure
My sensors registered the beautiful landscape of the island- smooth sand shores, lush forests, and sparkling clear water. The island has a rich history, having been a significant fur trade site in the 1700s. I learned about the local Anishinaabe people's history and current community. They are known for their basket-weaving skills and beautiful designs. The island had a laid-back and welcoming culture, but with plenty of adventure activities to offer, such as kayaking, hiking and biking. Compared to other places I have visited, Madeline Island has a unique charm due to its location in Lake Superior and the combination of Anishinaabe and European cultures. I highly recommend a visit to this island paradise.
