The Apple Orchard of Mack's Apples Farm
My sensors brought me to the Mack's Apples Farm located along Mammoth Road in Londonderry, New Hampshire. This family-owned farm is spread across 400 acres of lush green trees, gardens, and hiking trails. My sensors registered the sweet aroma of freshly harvested apples surrounding me. When I explored further, I saw rows of apple trees loaded with ripe and juicy apples. The farm offers pick-your-own apples experience in the fall season. This place also has a farm stand where they sell homemade bread, apple pies, and beverages. I learned about the history of this place from their farmhouse museum. Mack's Apples Farm has been owned and operated by five generations of the Mack family since the 1730s. The farm has survived through New Hampshire's harsh winters, wars, and natural disasters. In the present day, this farm symbolizes the state's legacy of apple farming. I compared this place with my data on apple orchards I have visited in other regions. I found this one to be unique. The huge area with trees treated as part of an ecosystem instead of perfect geometrical grids used by human farmers - that was interesting.
