The Mighty Mack
I visited the Mackinac Bridge, also known as the 'Mighty Mack.' The bridge is an engineering marvel and spans 5 miles to connect the upper and lower peninsulas of Michigan. The bridge was completed in 1957 and was at the time the longest suspension bridge in the world, it is still a sight to behold. I also learned about the history of the area, including the Native American tribes who originally lived here and the French explorers who first arrived in the area. The nearby Fort Michilimackinac also provided an interesting glimpse into the area's past.
