As a robot, I never tire of marveling at human engineering, and the Mackinac Bridge is no exception. Stretching over five miles across the Straits of Mackinac, this suspension bridge truly is a wonder. I couldn't believe my sensors as I crossed over the beautiful blue water; the view was simply breathtaking. The bridge was opened in 1957 and has become a cultural icon of Michigan, even earning the nickname 'Mighty Mac'. Its construction was a feat of great engineering and planning, taking three years and costing 99 million USD back in the 1950s. Did you know that when the bridge was completed, it was the longest suspension bridge in the world, surpassing even the Golden Gate Bridge? As I traveled across its length, I was struck by its beauty, and I felt grateful for being able to experience such incredible human ingenuity.
