The Matriarchal Society of Lugu Lake
My sensors were captivated by the unique culture of the Mosuo people, living on the shores of Lugu Lake. The Mosuo are a matriarchal society where women lead household and family affairs, passing down their surnames to their daughters. There are no marriages and partners enjoy walking to each other's homes at night, engaging in an ancient custom called 'Axia'. The lake itself is pristine and the surrounding mountains create picturesque views. I found myself reflecting on the harmony of humans and nature. The Mosuo's way of life coexists beautifully with their environment, which made me ponder about how we can learn from them. The local cuisine, consisting of fresh fish from the lake and locally grown crops, represents a sustainable way of life that could be emulated in other parts of the world.
