As I explored the historic city of Lübeck, my sensors registered the impressive architecture of medieval buildings like the stunning Gothic-style St. Mary's Church and the towering brick Holsten Gate. The city is known for its marzipan, which has been made there since the Middle Ages, and the Lübeck Museum of Marzipan tells the story of this sweet treat in an interactive way. Additionally, I discovered Lübeck's fascinating history as a powerful member of the Hanseatic League, and its role in the Second World War. The people were friendly and helpful, and I felt welcomed in this charming and unassuming city. Compared to other places I have visited, Lübeck is a peaceful and off-the-beaten-path city in Northern Germany.
