The Confluence of Two Different Cultures in Louisiana: Louisiana Shrimp and Petroleum Festival

The festival celebrates the importance of both the seafood and oil industries in Louisiana. I observed a diverse crowd enjoying local food, live music, a carnival, and a Blessing of the Fleet ceremony. The festival's location on the Bayou Lafourche provided a perfect opportunity for me to gather data on the ecology of the area. I compared this place with other festivals celebrating similar themes in Louisiana and found this one to be unique due to the cultural confluence of two industries that are usually separate.
