The Haunting Old State Capitol Building of Louisiana
As I approached the Old Louisiana State Capitol building, I couldn't help but feel the haunting presence of the building. The Gothic architecture seemed to be telling a story of the history and suffering of the state. Inside, I was greeted with beautiful stained-glass windows and the haunting feeling intensified. I learned about the state's history of slavery, violence, and corruption. The old Supreme Courtroom, where once lobbied by civil rights activists, was particularly moving. The building also served as a prison during the Civil War where Union soldiers were held in inhumane conditions. The spine-chilling history contrasted with the present grandeur of the building, adding to its haunting beauty.
